Charleston is hot in June, with tourist activity shifting toward the sea islands north and south of the city. Although the event calendar is beginning to wind down for the summer, there are still several big festivals on this month.
June’s major events are the Spoleto and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals, running concurrently from late May through mid June, with events and performances on across the city. These festivals draw enormous crowds to the city, so book well ahead of time if you are visiting during this period.
Other June festivals include the Charleston Carifest and Juneteenth celebrations, and there are several outdoor summer music and dancing events on too throughout the month.
