Charleston is excessively hot and humid in August, and many visitors to the area prefer to seek the cooling breezes and ocean at the several sea islands within easy reach of the city at this time of year.
Organized events in August are few, and mostly consist of regular summer events such as the annual music-and-dancing series on the pier at Mount Pleasant, and weekly live music and wine tasting at Wadmalaw’s Deep Water Vineyard.
